No matter which hiatus you’re mourning as an excuse to dress in all black this winter, no matter how many inches of snow you’ve accumulated or degrees on the thermometer you’ve lost, A Dream is a Question You Don’t Know How to Answer will be happy to keep you warm. Both Jonny Craig’s name and his vocal ability border on legendary, and this album might be enough to push them over that line. While comparisons to Michael Jackson are disputable, songs like What I Would Give to be Australian, (Featuring Allison Green of Millionaires fame) and recent single, Istillfeelher Part III, don’t do much to discourage them.
Craig’s vocals are impressive, but they’re the most notable thing about the album. The music behind them is good, but not overwhelmingly so. A few songs are so similar that at times they seem to run together. The last track, Children of Divorce, more than makes up for the weaker songs, but after the first couple of listens, tracks to skip over become clear. All in all, Craig’s first solo release is a solid debut from a remarkable artist, and definitely worth more than one listen.
